BFME2 360 Community Summit - Wednesday
Getting to the Hotel
EA had arranged for shuttles to take us from the airport to the Redmond Marriot Town Center. Normally I wouldn't mention it, but something happened on the way which portended good things for the rest of the trip. I struck up a conversation with a woman in the shuttle who was just returning from a trip to Europe. It turned out I had visited many of the same countries and cities, so we chatted amiably. As we approached Redmond, we passed a 6th St., so I commented that a long time ago I lived in Redmond, on 5th St., and I gestured wildly off to the left, saying it must have been over there. We continued, until suddenly I started recognizing the landscape... changed drastically since I lived there, but recognizable. It turned out the woman on the shuttle lived about 4 houses away from my old house, on the cross-street at the end of my street! And she had even been living there before I moved away. With that happy coincidence right at the start, I knew the rest of the trip would be terrific.
Wednesday - Meet and Greet
The Summit officially began with a meet and greet on Wednesday evening. We met in the hotel lobby, then the eight of us along with the EA and Microsoft guys walked to a nearby pizza restaurant, Frankie's. Everyone introduced himself (or herself, in my case as the sole female attendee) and told how they chose their gamer tag. The single holdout was APOC, who would only say that the time was not yet ripe for the revealing of the meaning behind his name… or words to that effect. ;-)
