I like to write books - fantasy fiction, actually - and this mod adds one of my characters to the mix of Gondor heroes. THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE AN INSTALLER. It's simply an INI file with all the necessary code modifications to add this hero. You must have a working knowledge of the INI.BIG file to be able to follow the instructions included in the file - i.e., don't try it if you're new to modding.
Also, this should work with all versions of Battle For Middle-Earth - 1, 2, and 2 RotWK.
"Jack.ini - this file has to be placed under data\ini\object\goodfaction\units\gondor\jack.ini"
I put Jack.ini in
Electronic Arts\The Battle for Middle-earth (tm) II\data\ini\object\goodfaction\units\gondor
Game crashes when started.
If I remove Jack.ini, the game starts.
Crash window shows parsing errors and errors about jack melee damage.
I'm running XP x64.

Did you add it to the INI.BIG file under 'data\ini\object\goodfaction\units\gondor' or under under 'Electronic Arts\The Battle for Middle-earth (tm) II\data\ini\object\goodfaction\units\gondor'? The second one would cause a parse error, because it wouldn't be able to find Jack's information (referenced in gamedata.ini).

You say: "- i.e., don't try it if you're new to modding."
But even a dumb**** can figure out how to install a mod. Are you high?
