Dark's Emyn Arnen Defense - Defend these lands, at the brink of a rainy dawn.
Play Time: Approx. 1,5 to 2 Hours
Players: 1 - 4 (All ALLIES!)
The forces of Evil are amassing, preparing to invade the lands of Emyn Arnen. You and your allies are tasked to prevent its success at all costs!
Build up your fortresses, bases and defenses.
To start the invasion: Destroy the Wight and its lair, and take the gold.

Hi all! Firstly my apologies and huge thanks to whoever created the map itself, as this started just as a hobby between myself and a friend - I do not have any idea (anymore). Anyway, if you're reading this, great work. It turned out fantastic! <3

v1.7:
- Added a layer of thunder rumble ambient sounds.
- Light rain ambient sound added.
- Small correctional changes to a few waves.

This map produces sudden, irregular bright flashes (i.e. thunder), other than the game's defaults at certain occasions.
IMMEDIATELY DISCONTINUE and consult a physician if you experience any of the following symptoms: dizziness, altered vision, eye or muscle twitching, involuntary movements, loss of awareness, disorientation, or convulsions.

All (noteworthy) Features:
- 16 different waves to overcome: They vary in type and strength, and overall getting harder as you progress. Also, the amount of most unit-groups spawned vary, to help have some randomness in any game/wave and is better for replayability. If you manage to beat them all, the endgame round will commence. I will not spoil any of that, but it's quite freakin' nice ;)
- AI Support: You can actually play this map amazingly well with AI allies. I have put tons of effort into the friendly AI behavior alone. They will engage on the battle area, help you and other AI, and after each wave retreat to base. They also build a second fortress as soon as the game starts (they will NOT rebuild it if destroyed) and they will use certain (useful) special abilities as early and often as possible.
- Replayability: The game really has a different feel if you switch starting position. Also, how and where units converge is quite dynamic, depending on you and your allies' setup and overall whereabouts.
- Spell-Points gathered 25% faster: You and your allies can potentially enjoy SpellBook powers a bit earlier.
- Command-Points redistribution: If an ally gets wiped out, CP are redistributed amongst remaining players.
- Highly optimized: The scripting, runtimes and unit spawning has been highly optimized for the best performance possible. Really, performance has been thought of at every single step. However, to fully enjoy this map you are as good as required to set your graphics settings to the lower end, especially when playing lan/online. The engine simply cannot handle all of this on High(er) settings, and it has nothing to do with your awesome pc rig.
- There is very little to no lag, even with the huge amount of units present (provided you have lowered your graphic settings). This is mainly achieved by using flags, teams, stances, cleverly go about issuing orders and keeping them to a minimum.
- Weather changes at certain times.
- No house color for enemy troops: They show as RED on the minimap, but do not wear colored clothing.
- Killcounter: An experimental killcounter is present. It sums up all kills done by you and allies. It is not 100% accurate yet and will be improved in a later version.
- Demolisher / Battering Ram / Ballista units Disabled: The AI will only waste their arms' power by building such useless units for this map.
- Ballrog / Watcher / Wyrm units Disabled: These unit types are used in and modified for the waves. Allowing such units for players would give them unintentional advantages. Players are generally encouraged to play a 'Good' faction in this map anyway, as the waves are 'Evil'.
- Intro and some other 'cinematics'
- Re-shrouds the map
Known Bugs:
- None, provided you are playing on the right version of LOTR ROTWK. This map has undergone intense 2 plr (+2 AI) multiplayer testing (over 50 hours).
Tested with: LOTR BFME2 ROTWK 2.02 - 8.0.1 and 9.0.0
In conclusion, a lot of blood, sweat and tears went into this one. I'm sure you will enjoy :) |

Tried this on both the newest version and 8.0.1. Didn't work for either. Doesn't even appear on my map list. This seems like a nice map but I just wish I could play it. |

Hi @Stealth_Meister, bummer it aint showing up.
That usually means the map folder was not put in the right place.
The map folder called "Darks Emyn Arnen Defense" should be copied into: %appdata%\My The Lord of the Rings, The Rise of the Witch-king Files\Maps

My best guess then is that some registry values are messed up or not present, and in that case none of the maps there should show up, as that is the default location for downloaded maps. Perhaps try re-installing the game then? That might rectify the problem, hopefully. In any case there is nothing else I can do about it otherwise. Hope it helps. |

Nothing I can do, this problem of yours has nothing to do with the map. It is just a map like any other, showing up in both offline Skirmish and Online games.
Perhaps you have so many you just overlook it. Move your other maps out, keep this and one other, then sort by user-created maps in-game. If you need further assistance please check on Reddit or something. Again this is not a problem caused by the map and I cannot give you more assistance. It finally worked. I had to get someone else to host a game with it and I was able to get it to show up afterwards.
Unfortunately it seems rather unbeatable with just 660 CP so I kinda just deleted it afterwards anyways lmao
Can't even use the in-game feature to manipulate the CP.[Edited on 03/30/23 @ 01:22 PM]
