A couple of days ago, a new Middle Earth book, the first volume of The History of the Hobbit was released in the US! It contains half of Tolkien's original drafts for the book as well as commentary.
Why hasn't anyone discussed this yet? I feel so uninformed.
So discuss. Who's getting it?

I informed Aeneas, but he was a little slow.
I asked for it for my birthday. Sounds interesting.
I don't know... I like the uninterrupted stories a lot better. I'm more interested in the story than how the stroy came to be the story. That's why 'Children of Húrin' was great for me.

Does this mean that there's going to be a History of Hobbits Volume 2?

Yes.
@Tolkien_Freak: This is like the "History of Middle-earth" books. It's basically manuscripts of the earliest drafts.
