An Abandoned Dwarf Mine (with a dale)

Author File Description
File Details
ROTWK Map: Yes
Number of Players: 1
One Ring: Yes
AI: Yes
Long ago, dwarves built mines everywhere and with every mine, there as a dale.

This is a 4 player skirmish map. 2 players inside the mine (with height and narrow passage advantage each) and 2 players outside.

Notice the artistic Colosseum!
Credit: Thanks to an anonymous turkish modder who made the Mosque!

Tip:Beware of booby traps!
Tip: Take the bfme1 outposts! They will bring you extra goodies!

Post Script:
I DID make this myself!!!!

Viking Loke I think you should calm down man. You post maps the whole time and not that many people are acctive on this site. I havent download the map or any of your other maps but I suggest that you put some more time on every map before you post them. People are to lazzy to download maps and then go back to the site and rate them (and speically when the maps comes from the same mapper the whole time). So instead of making 10 maps that are not that good or interesring make 2 very good maps, that people will download.

I hope you take this critique on the right way and learn someting from it.

This one actually has been in my workshop for weeks now.
I actually worked on this one.
And my other Moria maps are nice too, and I'm hoping to redo my Rohan Series.

The EA maps are there because they should be available to the public to use because they bought the game but can't use these specific maps.
Crusard Hey I promised I'd take a look when you released your own maps (I think I did?). Maybe tomorrow after this horrible microbiology exam I've been studiyng for I'll review this one (Unless you're working on another big new map now :))
Map Design1.5
Playability: 1.5
The ridiculous amount of props made it very hard to even try to move from one point to the other. I'm not even going to mention farm building.
The excessive (obsessive actually? :P) amount of creeps and lairs even makes my Core2DuoE8400/8800GT cry.

Balance: 2.5
Didn't finish the map, but as I looked around I'm not sure both sides have the same room to expand. 2.5.

Creativity: 2
Well you did experiment with objects and scaling. I liked the interior "2-floor" structure and some walkways outside. The main idea of the map is kinda poor though.

Map Design: 1.5
Whatever that creep goblin fortress with a nearly infinite amount of troops guarding it was.

Also, what is this supposed to be?

Story/Instructions: 1.5
The map is upside down! Also, the instructions are cut: For map descriptions use Map.str instead, which has no character limit (check other maps or ask me in the forum to see exactly how).

Additional Comments:
There is some work put in this one, though you still have a lot to polish. Try giving the players more space, this map is filled with visual and creature spam all over the place. You can still make creative and cool looking things without so many objects (you actually managed to pull off a couple of nice locations on this map, by the way).

To make a map really interesting, ask yourself "How is this map really going to stand out of the rest? What is going to be really special about my next creation?". Even if your map was aesthetically perfect, if you don't manage either great gameplay or special features it will just add to the pile.

I wish I could test my maps before publishing it!
Believe me, I DO test my files; but it so happens that my DVDrom drive is broken, hence no testing.
I rely solely on comments.

So thanks again (I think)

Same scenario with Blue Mountain.
Crusard You can download a mini image and mount it with a program such as Alcohol120%. Then just use SD4 hider and you can play the game (even online) without needing the DVD in your drive :)

And I can't believe you don't test your maps... I mean, it's important man!
Elrond1982 A good try considering that you aren't able to test your maps. I agree with Custard, it is absolutely imperative to be able to test your maps before releasing them. If you cannot test your maps now because of the DVD drive problem, wait to release the maps before the problem is fixed. At the point the problem is dealt with, test each map to completion before release. This map has potential, but without being able to test it, it turns out to be much like what Rise of the Witch King turned out to be when it was first released - a lot of bugs that needed to be patched a couple of times (but in EA's case there's just no freaking excuse).

Good work, considering the dilemma!
