The Last Battle of Men by morgulblade22
The Northern Waste, known for owning the cold lands of Forechel and for great stories long forgotten. Many things were forgotten or never known, many things should not have been forgotten but many things are not known. The end of the 5th age was brutal, but the beginning of the 4th age has a past. At the time Sauron reclaimed the ring and he built armies to taste the blood of the last realm of men, Gondor. Battles waged against Gondor and blood was spilt, the white city was claimed by orc flesh. The shout of Aragorn shouting the call of retreating. Lives of many were taken on their way to the last place Sauron would expect, the Northern Waste. The cry of battle was heard, orcs captured Aragorn and the blade of death stabbed him.
The men that escaped found a land, a land of great history and anger, a land that would not let Sauron's army enter. The last living captain of men, Saudrail, said "we have passed the borders of death, we shall stay here." Unknown of the events soon to come, they built a village. Soon the men forgot the scent of evil and tragedy and lived their prideful lives. Very few tragedies happened, they would have a burial and forget, but not on all accounts, the death of their captain was never forgotten. Many other tragedies happened that were not known to man, a nazgul scout found the lands and sent word to Sauron. Sauron did not want to send small armies, instead he was willing to breed the ultimate army that could conquer all forces. The men continued to live their prideful lives never thinking of battle. After many years the 5th age was ending, the snow fell from the sky and a horn not known by any, the horn of the orc. The armies marched and the villagers retreated to the aged fortress. The men did not know much about battle and had very few weapons. The men had a cry of terror, the courage and pride of men died. The fortress was a great fortress and was able to hold for days. When the fortress walls broke the men scattered in fear. Their greatest weapon was stone. Sauron laughed at how weak the men were. The valar did not want the race of men to die so quickly so they granted the men the strength of a thousand, but even then without a leader it was useless. Blood was spilt and the men died.
