Teh Axe Thr0wer Rush!
Angmar

Yo, it's teh Bendak back in action.

To have everyone here noticed of latest standards, here's the brief explanation of the almighty Angmar axe thrower rush, which can be devastating vs most factions. I'm no Angmar expert at all (Mordor is my luv, lol), but there's basic guidelines everyone can attend to. Ofcourse, making your own strat and winning with it is the coolest thing to do,but be sure to share them with us!

Angmar axe thrower rush

To start out, build a barracks and a mill, followed by another mill. Place those buildings in a good position at the back of your fortress, so it's better to defend. Then, create 3 thrall masters with axethrowers before continuing with building more mills. As soon as you got your first thrall master out, send him to the enemy base and start to [b]harass* his buildings. Then send the next 2 axethrowers out to help the first one but also kill some nearby troops. The next pack of 3 thrall masters with axethrowers can be used to attack or defend, but be sure to have them do something. Then, get another barracks right away so you can start spamming more thrall masters to keep up with your enemy's spam.

*Harrasing: kill buildings, evade troops, keep your units alive (do not waiste (except if you can destroy a building with it)

Summary early game:

-mill+barracks
-mill
-3 thrall masters, get axethrowers
-mill
-3 thrall masters, with axethrowerst
-barracks

Angmar basic guidelines

These are basic stuff that always gives you a good chance in multiplayer games (tournament, or custom game with normal rules (NO COH HERO NO 4000 RECOURCE)

Guidelines for Angmar:
-perform a good axethrower rush early
-keep him busy with axethrowers after the first rushes
-upgrade to Dark Rangers ASAP (and cold ice arrows)
-using the right counter with thrall masters to counterenemy troops
-get a hero (or more) to aid you (this can be any hero, depends on what you need and your financial state)
-DO NOT GET OVERWHELMED. this is Angmar's biggest weakness, a spam gets it down. thus, KEEP BUILDING TROOPS.

Do's
-double barracks to spam more and more - thx pigelin
-spam troops all the way
-micro your troops and heroes
-early Dark Rangers
-upgraded trolls in lategame
-trebuchets in lategame, and not only for siege
-a few fortress upgrades (such as dire wolves)

Dont's
-build walls
-turtle up
-not rushing early
-no hero at all in midgame
-wolves
-unupgraded black numenoreans
-only building 1 unit with your thrall masters

You never mentioned anything about doubble rax? I usually go two baracks to get more axethrowers out. It's really good early game to keep your opponent busy until you expand to other units .

But a fine guide, glad to see you back in action

Very nice, Bendak. When ROTWK came out, I was a little alarmed that no one made a guide yet. Good to see you doing stuff again.

Perhaps one of those first six thrall masters should make rhudar spearmen instead of axethrowers because a cavalry charge would eliminate an axe thrower threat. It doesn't help that the axe throwers are really defensively weak to begin with.

that is also an option, you can wait with summoning your troops until you know what the enemy is going to send at you

Turtle a little bit, take mos tof his guys with archers form your fortress until you have more men than him. (This should happen in the first 6 minutes) and expand.
