By the year 2020, it is expected that America will go back to the Moon, heralding a new phase for space exploration. It is believed that bases will be built on the Moon, and maybe eventually cities. There are even plans to terraform and colonize our neighboring planet, Mars. However, in the end, there will always be those opposed to such activities... those opposed to our colonization... of the last frontier...

Rules:

  • Do not edit your posts - double post if necessary. Once is fine, though a mod will be asked to read your edit history. but if it happens multiple times, you may be mod-killed.
  • Do not reveal any information after your character has died.
  • This game is closed communication - talk within this thread only, unless your role specifically states otherwise.
  • No talking/strategizing during the night, unless your role specifically states otherwise.
  • Do not quote me!
  • Follow HG's CoC
  • During the day, players can vote to lynch. To cast your vote type Vote: Name. Be sure to bold it!
  • If you change your vote, type Unvote: Name before your new vote.

Special Mechanic:

Air

Everyone starts with 100% air. However, each night action reduces the amount of air they have by 20%, and each day decreases it by 20% as well. As their air supply decreases, so does the chance of their vote landing on the right person. Any night, you may choose to forgo your night action to instead increase the amount of air you have to 100%. When your air reaches 0%, you die.

So now I'm starting to assume that Ash has some sort of vote-restriction? Or he's extremely bored but knowledgeable about space . Anyways, I believe we are still waiting on TBG, he showed up once before IIRC then disappeared again.

You know, I hadn't even considered the vote restriction possibility.

Vote restriction? You're close. Of course, much closer than Alpha Centauri. With currently technology we can't even get over there in the average human lifetime. That's not close at all.

I think Pit and I meant post restriction. Oh well.

So, a claim from TBG. And then what? Lynch him if it's a poor claim presumably, but what if it's fine?

Talk, please?

The other thing is, both mine and Heir's role have two parts. While TBG's apparently has only one. That would suggest to me that his doesn't fit in, but possibly someone else could put me right on that.

Right.

For whatever reason having a night kill always makes people talk a bit more, so in this situation I'm quite happy to lynch TBG to get the game moving.

Oh, and because his claim just basically looks rubbish.

I don't think so - TBG has apparently been gone for 2 days. This thread is a couple weeks old now, and he's only just decided to bless us with his presence - he's either lurking or doesn't care. On top of that all he did was rattle out a quick 3 line post with a claim and nothing else. Scum making an early claim basically want to survive for as long as possible (in *most* cases an early scum claim makes it very hard for them to survive the game), and one-shot vig fits that nicely - it's much better than a multi-shot vig (or most other power roles) since it's inherently harder to test, it looks better than vanilla townie, and isn't particularly likely to be rumbled by someone else with the same role. If scum claims cop/doc/roleblocker/whatever then they are risking either a counter claim or at least having someone knowing they are lying with a good degree of certainty. One-shot vig is a weak enough role that it could've conceivably been thrown in as a balancing act by the mod.

Oh, and I'd also argue we aren't losing anything - whether TBG is lurking or just inactive, he has been fairly worthless to us so far, and his one post hasn't inspired confidence that that will change. I can count on one hand how often a one-shot vig has been of such importance that the town has come to rely on him.

So for me inactiveness + shaky claim + little risk = lynch?

I have to agree. The claim doesn't seem to fit at all, and is low risk for a lynch. In the complete absence of activity, I think we should probably just get on with it.

Vote count please, mod.

"We need to send someone out," said Julius. "We need to assess the damage before we do anything else."

"We need to be careful. We don't want to lose anyone."

"Send out three people, that should be enough," replied Rot.

Three of them stepped forward, ready to do their job for the crew.

"Alpha 1, is the leader, Alpha 2 and 3, follow all directions. Alpha 2, take any notes you need," said Drinian, handing over a notepad. "Good luck."

The men put on their suits and stepped into the air lock.

"Fine day," said Alpha 1, looking at the stars.

The three men walked out into the Lunar dust.

It was nice and firm, easy to walk on. Their beleaguered ship was lucky - it was lying right side up on the lunar surface.

The dust hadn't been to nice, though. The could feel it trying to seep into their helmets. Lunar dust was very fine, and they were lucky NASA had done a good job on their space suits.

"We're walking around back, Bravo," said Alpha 1 into the radio. The three had a long walk. The Altair was no mouse. The spaceship was modified from the original Altair designs used to build the Armstrong Base, and was outfitted for many more crew members then the original. And more crew members meant more space.

It was a 20 minute walk in the Lunar gravity. They still had a good amount of air.

"Uh, captain," said Alpha 1. "I think we chose a bad resting spot. There's a giant ravine right behind us here."

The three men had reached the back-most part of the lander where the leak had been seen, and it was still there. Their fuel was slipping. And they were lucky. A little farther back had the Altair landed...

"Alpha 1, return back to ship for rendezvous, we just came in contact with Base again. I repeat, return for orders. And good find about the ravine, over."

"Roger that, Captain," said Alpha 1. He made to move first and had started walking. Alpha 3 stayed behind to examine the leaking gas, and Alpha 2 stayed behind for a second, too. As soon as Alpha 1 was out of sight of the two, he heard a scream on the radio intercom.

He tried fruitlessly to cover his ears through the helmet, but it was impossible. The chilling scream could be heard in the Altair as well, and Drinian asked frantically, "What the hell was that?!"

"Going to check, sir!" said Alpha 1 in reply, running as fast as he could back to the two he had foolishly left behind. Alpha 2 was there, kneeling and looking into the ravine. He got up and turned to Alpha 1. Tears covered his face and he seemed sick.

"I... I tried to reach him," he said, choking up. The tears flowed down his face.

"What happened," said Alpha 1, guessing it.

"He fell. He stepped backward for a second and fell." Alpha 2 collapsed on the Lunar surface, the sounds of his sobs echoed in the suit radio. Alpha 1 staggered slowly over to the cliff face and looked down. Sure enough, he saw the hint of the US flag, glinting in the deep.

"Rest in peace," he said.

Pit was dead.

Interesting. My guess is that one scum hit another with their day-kill, which is just fine with us. I say that becaue Pit hadn't really done anything suspicious enough to deserve a vig kill like that.
