I agree with Bingo Little re: Kyr drinking - It's a more solid opinion to say you don't like/don't want something after you've tried it, rather than "smelled" it... It's like saying you saw a 'old bomb' of a Toyota Camry once (and didn't like it), and hence you don't like driving and never will.
I have drunk (and got drunk) and like neither to be honest. Hence I don't drink. You shouldn't drink just because everyone around you is, or because they tell you to. You have your own judgement and you should use that.
In other words: It's up to you - Culverin is right about the addiction, (although not all wine drinkers are addicts!). The main thing is just not to think you will prove anything to anyone if you have a drink.
