When watching the Two Towers today, I noticed that the Galadhrim Elves are portrayed as very weak and are killed easily. For example, when charging behind the Deeping Wall after the explosion, an Elf is seen killed by running into the enemy spears. Now, you would think that a Child of Iluvatar that has trained in the strongest Elven haven in Middle-earth for thousands of years would have been better prepared for such a defence. I know they don't really show up in the books at the battle, but don't you think that PJ should have have given these Elves more fighting credit?

I suppose. The only death that made sense to me was the death of Haldir, and that to very little sense. I expected them all to be alive at the end, or at least most.

I have to agree. Even though Uruk Hai have superior strength and numbers, the elve's speed and accuarcy should have easily taken down alot. I mean, one RAN into a pike, impaling himself. The pike didn't move into him last minute, he just ran into it.

Another shot on the walls shows one berzerker taking down Elves with one hit. Wouldn't they have learned to duck, or at least block? It's pathetic! Eru's turning in his grave...

Well sometimes you can't see somthing coming or are in a bad position to block, or all you have to block with is a bow.

elves are made out to be weak but are said to be strong....its very wierd.

I think it's because they are so beautiful and graceful, it makes some think that slender weakness also goes with it.

But however many years you practice, you'll never be invincible, especially when you only have a bow and your enemies got a sword.

Stop countering my reason, Murrogh, and just say I'm right!

Aragorn did yell "Ladders," so the Elves weren't taken by surprise at the fact that there were going to be berzerkers.

I'm gonna re-watch the scene and then come back and give my opinion on how they were depicted.

Okay, they have swords, so they should be able to fight well, when he said ladders they should have been hacking at the uruks as they came up, but the berserkers once up should be able to do decent damage with thier heavy weapons and strength. With the running into the spear thing, he was an idiot who should have attempted to hack at the spears as he was charging to clear a path.

Most should not have survived though as they were in the burg and were overwhelmed, not in the keep.
