I think this is a brilliant idea - especially the separate Gondor/Rohan/Arnor factions. It will be nice to have them playable on their own again. The Easterling faction looks very interesting indeed!
I wonder what new powers the heroes will have...

I think the main thing is to balance all the factions completely first. In the first one, Rohan was underpowered so they merged it with men. (And by merging I mean they got rid of all Rohan stuff other that Rohirrim and heroes.) Now, it's better, but certain factions like Mordor are underpowered to a certain extent as well.
The main thing that worries me about this is that with all the new factions, certain ones won't have enough "stuff" from the story and be underpowered again.

Awsome! The new factions I'd like are: Numenor, Dale, Dunland, and ummm... Oh yeah! Hobbits!

Those don't seem like they would have enough to make them factions...

Yeah, that's what I thought.
I wouldn't mind a few units that stretched the story a bit as long as they were realistic, though...

Cool! I hope they make a BFME3. That would be an amazing game.

They should probably have some of the older factions (meaning Angband and Nargothrond...)...

I always figured that if they did make a BFME3 one of the main selling points would be them including Silmarillion Factions.

A lot of the First Age characters would be...destructive, at best. For example the final battle with Morgoth not only destroyed his fortress, but obliterated and flooded the entire Beleriand landscape.
Even one of the soldiers from those times could probably instakill a fortress or something if it's made realistic. But oh well.

Cool idea, especially seeing as my copy refuses to let me get the online updates.
I suggest giving Gandalf the sheild he used agains the Balrog in Moria. Also maybe the tower of sauron with some cool abilities?

Yes, they should finally make Barad Dur or at least a section of it. It really annoyed me in the first two games.

Barad Dur would be an amazing map. The person inside could have the Eye of Sauron unit from the power and it would have an infinite timer. (maybe, might be OP)

Perhaps instead of infinite, maybe just a slightly quicker timer, so as not to overpower...

I think they should give elves more natural powers, like capturing an animal and using it as a spy, or creating a wall of thorns that hurts units who touch it. A summon bees power would be pretty cool, too.
