Everyone knows that the greatest medal to get bestowed upon a soldier is the Victoria Cross, unless you live in the US, in which case it is the Medal of Honor. The Victoria Cross is a massive military honour, and anyone who gets one should be immensly proud, unless they are dead, in which case they won't really know about their medal, but everyone else will respect their memory.
The Victoria Cross is given for valour in the face of the enemy, and is the most coveted military award in the world. The largest collection of VC's is in the Australian War Memorial, which contains 60, including all 9 of the VC's awarded to Australians during Gallipoli. The most amount of VC's given out because of one battle is 11 in Rorkes Drift. 1356 have been awarded since its creation. Only 3 people have received 2 VC's, and therefore get a bar for their medal.
I personally will aim to get a VC during the next major military action should I be part of the armed forces, which I most likely will be.
